I thought I was trying a new Thai beer. 😂

Published November 3, 2026

Sato Siam from 7-Eleven Thailand turned out to be a huge surprise when I picked it up thinking it was a cheap local beer. At only 36 baht (about $1.07 USD) for a large bottle, it caught my eye in the cold drinks section alongside familiar Thai beer staples like Singha, Leo, and Chang. With almost the entire label written in Thai script except for the romanized name "Sato Siam," I decided to buy it and give it a blind first-taste test on camera. The moment I took a sip, it became immediately clear that this is definitely not beer. Sitting at 6.5% alcohol, the flavor profile tastes far closer to a sweet fruit wine or light fermented fruit beverage rather than a traditional malt brew. It was definitely a shock expecting a crisp lager and tasting sweet, fruity alcoholic water instead, but it actually turned out to be really enjoyable. If you know traditional Thai drinks and can explain exactly how Sato Siam is brewed and what it's made of, drop a comment below and share your knowledge!
