Rucking in Bali: My Journey to the Intercontinental Resort

Published October 1, 2025

Join me on a unique and challenging travel adventure in Bali! Instead of taking a 45-minute taxi ride to cover just five miles through Bali's notorious traffic, I decided to take the scenic route on foot. This is the story of my journey from an Airbnb in Kuta to the luxurious 5-star InterContinental Bali Resort in Jimbaran, all while "rucking" with my 50-pound backpack, carrying everything I own. This isn't your typical travel day; it's a test of endurance and a unique way to experience the island at street level. https://jasonmichaelphillips.com/contact http://instagram.com/jasonmichaelphillips http://facebook.com/jasonmichaelphillips https://www.tiktok.com/@jasonmichaelphillips https://www.twitch.tv/jasonmichaelphillips Join channel to support my videos! I'll show you the delicious and hearty meal I ordered—a flavorful lamb pita, a savory Greek omelette, and a much-needed iced cappuccino—the perfect breakfast of champions to power me through the challenging walk ahead. Then, the real adventure begins. I'll take you through the narrow, bustling streets and alleyways of Bali, navigating the chaotic scooter traffic with a heavy pack strapped to my back. You'll see the real, unfiltered side of Bali that you often miss from inside a car. The video features a time-lapse of the 3-mile trek, showing the changing landscapes as I make my way south. It's a raw look at the physical demands of this style of travel and a glimpse into my life as a full-time traveler. After walking over three miles and feeling the burn, I share a super useful and budget-friendly travel tip for getting around Bali. I'll show you how I used the Grab app to call a motorbike taxi to cover the final two miles for only about $1 USD! It's the perfect way to finish the journey and arrive at the stunning entrance of the InterContinental Bali Resort, ready for check-in. This video is the prequel to my full resort tour, showing the grit and effort behind the glamorous destination. 0:00 - Intro: The 5-Mile Rucking Challenge 1:17 - Pre-Hike Fuel at a Greek Restaurant 3:12 - Ordering a Feast in Kuta 3:52 - Food Review: Lamb Pita & Greek Omelette 6:04 - The 50lb Backpack Ruck Begins! 6:51 - Time-lapse Through the Streets of Bali 8:28 - 3 Miles Later...
